Need a voice for your audiobook?
What things should you keep in mind when deciding on which voice to use?
WHAT SHOULD YOU LOOK FOR?
- If your audiobook is a work of fiction, select a voiceover with some acting ability, as they will be responsible for voicing each of the characters in your story.
- Do you need someone who can do “believable” accents or characters?
- Select a voiceover with an interesting “voice”, particularly if the content of your audiobook is non-fiction. Boring is your enemy – unless you’re trying to convey this emotion. The right voice will maintain a reader’s interest and make the material more palatable and rewarding.
HOW MUCH WOULD IT COST?
It’s the old string analogy!
While the cost of a voiceover for your audiobook will depend on a range of factors including the length of the book and the type of material (i.e. the number of characters), you can normally expect to pay between $100 and $200 an hour for quality narration, with the average audiobook taking between 10 and 15 hours to complete.
If you need to have complete oversight or would like to be involved in the recording itself, we’d suggest contacting us with your project details already sorted. What is your deadline? What is your budget? Do you need to have the voice delivered “ready to go” or will you be producing things to broadcast standard at a later date?
We’d be happy to discuss your options whenever you’re ready to proceed.
